Provides independent professional information technology support of moderate complexity in computer/systems operations, systems administration, systems software, hardware support, and other various technical areas; the selected candidate in this role will install, implement, and maintain a variety of monitoring tools and operations processes; will be responsible for monitoring, diagnosing, and escalation of operational datacenter issues including initial triage and information gathering; monitoring datacenter servers, network, and applications utilizing standard monitoring tools assuring availability for all university clients; this includes monitoring system tools for errors, failures, network malfunctions, data center security, applications, and environmental disruptions; develops and implements policies, procedures, standards, and practices related to the monitoring and batch job scheduling software, along with detailed documentation for all related production activities; designs supporting work processes; works with other staff to assess accuracy of batch job scheduling needs and automated production software for datacenter monitoring; coordinates monitoring software installations, upgrades; manages software licenses and ensures compliance with all licensing requirements; responsible for monitoring and maintaining new production applications; assists in planning and production print infrastructure and batch scheduling issues and interacts with clients in order to discuss future projects, answer questions regarding systems, and to resolve problems; independently alters scheduling complex job streams/while also analyzing open system scripts for nightly batch productions, and job schedules; provides primary support for several in-house monitoring tools and various other systems; trains co-workers on new or updated procedures, e.g. job scheduling procedures, print infrastructure procedures, and Network Operations Center (NOC)monitoring software, etc.; accountable for reviewing pending production implementations and enforcing production standards; measures and records vital statistics and produces reports for daily, weekly, and monthly production batch processing and monitoring of the datacenter; participates as a fully-functioning professional member of medium/complex projects teams and/or independently leads small IT project of two to three staff using varied technologies. Duties associated with this position involve working on a video display terminal 75 percent of the time.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical, vocational or business school such as an associate's degree in computer technology or information systems, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area such as Web design development using HTML; experience in Web development tools, Microsoft Access, including Windows (all versions), IIS; experience in scripting languages such as Java Script, VB Script or other object oriented programming experience; experience monitoring servers, networks, and applications utilizing standard tools; knowledge of VMware and MS-SQL; knowledge of Linux operating system and Windows server systems; knowledge of CPU utilization, Disk utilization processes; OR a bachelor's degree in computer technology or information systems, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
