Michigan State University seeks a dynamic IT security analyst to serve as Cyber Security Incident Responder. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a vibrant public research university and lead incident response across a $2 billion enterprise; selected candidate will provide strategic direction and vision in optimizing the current incident response program; this position will report to the Chief Information Security Officer of MSU and will be responsible for managing IT security incidents including, incident detection and analysis, forensics, containment, eradication and recovery, and post-incident lessons learned performing threat analysis; will determine the potential impact of specific identified threats; performs system and network log collection and analysis; creates and supports automated processes for process and workflow integration with ticketing systems; develops appropriate metrics (key risk and key performance indicators). This position will require a highly qualified individual who has strong problem solving and technical skills; is a strong critical thinker who is detail oriented; can analyze and process large data sets; this individual should be able to be responsive and biased towards speed and execution; can work under pressure across multiple roles and hierarchies, is highly collaborative, but can work independently, and is innovative.
Minimum Requirements;
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; three years of related work experience in incident response or a related role requiring confidentiality, analysis, prioritization, and problem solving; experience leading incident response efforts involving multiple stakeholders; certification or experience with Anti-virus/Malware analysis; certification or experience with Internal ticketing system(s) for incident response and change management; certification or experience with scripting experience (Perl, python, shell, etc.); certification or experience with Network security tools (IDS/IPS, firewalls, etc.); certification or experience with Packet capturing/analysis tools; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications;
Master's degree in Computer Science; computer forensics related certifications, such as: Certified Computer Examiner (CCE); Certified Hacking Forensics Investigator (CHFI); Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE); GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst; GIAC Certified Forensics Examiner; General security certifications, such as: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA); Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM); Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
