This position will work as a member of the Business Intelligence (BI) team for the Enterprise Business Systems; will work with other members of the BI team to support the analysis, design, and development of the Business Intelligence system (Cognos) at Michigan State University; will develop and deliver BI requests, using appropriate query and reporting analysis tools; consults with unit leaders and business staff across campus on additional reporting requirements and enhancements; will train university staff on the use of specific Cognos tools such as Query and Analysis Studio as well as assist university staff in understanding standard reports.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or related field with coursework in an area related to business or information technology; five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in database reporting solution, defining users report requirements, developing metadata layers and building reports; experience with Cognos BI-8 and/or Cognos BI-10 working actively with Framework Manager, and Studios; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:
Knowledgeable of best practices using Cognos BI; strong quantitative and logical thinking skills combined with the ability to think creatively and formulate unique reporting designs; experience in the development and support of reporting solutions using Cognos BI 8 and/or Cognos BI 10 (Framework Manager, Transformer, Report, Analysis and Query Studios); experience working with higher education data, and understanding of University operations and financial relationships; experience writing design specifications, developing models, framework manager packages, cubes and reports using Cognos BI; ability to create and maintain documentation, organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines with minimal direct supervision; strong organizational, written, and presentation skills; ability to analyze and effectively communicate development issues, including problems with data integrity, data design, and functional and technical software issues; ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with clients and other external stakeholders; demonstrated ability to work independently within a team-based environment; ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines; ability to work on several projects simultaneously; strong collaborative and interpersonal skills in a team environment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
