The successful candidate will help design, document, administer, and operate complex Linux-based environments for IT Services managed systems; will configure system level software for monitoring and logging; will be available for support and maintenance during off hours; will troubleshoot and support customer issues.
Support Staff: Minimum Requirements;
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications;
Experience administering large scale Red Hat enterprise Linux systems; experience creating RPMs and managing a private update and software repository; knowledge of security policies, firewalls, VLANs, and network configuration; knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Ruby and Python, and server deployment technologies like Puppet for task automation; familiarity with common networking protocols, firewall configuration and troubleshooting, and excellent deductive skills; familiarity with storage protocols such as CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, FC, etc. to connect to shared storage; ability to understand and accept the need to support a 24/7 data center; strong oral and written communication skills and can work independently and with a team to accomplish complex tasks; familiarity with different virtualization technologies; familiarity with software proxy programs such as EZ-Proxy.
